# New in Cylc 8.1: Log View

**Cylc 8 GUI Log View**

You are now able to view job and workflow logs in the Cylc 8 GUI. Logs will live stream to the gui when the log view is open.

Open the log view by clicking on a task and selecting Log, or by adding from the view menu. Here is a quick demo:

With `other`, do you need to know the exact filename to be able to view the log?

At the moment yes, we plan to automatically populate the file list in a future release.
