However, there’s a caveat in my case. I’m accessing the jupyter server via a websocket reverse proxy in order to bypass the MeteoFrance firewall.
Just thought you might like to know.

Proxies can cause problems with connections sometimes, there is some advice for configuring them here:
If you occasionally see the red banner appear at the top of the GUI, it’s worth checking the websocket timeout (though that would have to be very short to cause problems).
Does anything appear in the ~/.cylc/uiserver/log/log files in association with this error?
Hi Oliver, the log file is blank. I am pretty sure this has to do with the websocket kludge I had to set up. It’s not a show stopper, and I am just happy it works. The web ui has so much more functionality. I’ll check timeout settings…
The log/log file is sometimes blank, but you should find something in one of the others.
The “network” panel in the “web inspector” might help debugging the connection issues. It may reveal disconnects.
