Suggestion for tui log viewing

Hi there, would it be possible to be able to navigate subdirectories in the log directory? We run nemo with logs generated for each processor and it would be nice to be able to stick them under log/nemo/… and view them with tui. Would make for a large amount of files to bring back scheduler side, so maybe not ideal…
Just throwing it out there.

The `cylc cat-log -m l` command lists the contents of the job log directory. It… doesn't actually differentiate between files and directories, so if you were to create a subdirectory, it would be presented as an option, but you wouldn't be able to drill down into its contents. This is a small bug. ```console $ cylc cat //1/foo -m l job job-activity.log job.err job.out job.status job.xtrace subdir $ cylc cat //1/foo -f subdir cat: .../log/job/1/foo/NN/subdir: Is a directory ``` However, the `cylc cat-log` command can handle subdirs: ```console $ cylc cat tmp.d1SYLofxym//1/foo -f subdir/foo foo ``` **Question:** How should we handle subdirs: 1. Should `cylc cat-log -m l` also scan subdirs? * These files would automatically become available in Tui/GUI. 2. Or should it simply omit them. * Because we're not trying to build a file server here. I'm leaning towards (1).
