Looking ahead perhaps, but, with Cylc8.3 some things change (skip, cylc set, perhaps others). They would, I imagine lead to changes in the UI in some form. Will the UI and UIServer work with older workflows, or will different versions of the UI and UIServer be required to work with Cylc8.2 workflows vs 8.3 workflows?
Yes, the cylc-ui will continue to work with workflows running under older versions, however, you are always best advised to restart your workflows with the newer version of Cylc to take advantage of bugfixes and improvements. At some point we will add an “upgrade” button to the UI to make this easier.
New features will only work with schedulers running under the new version of Cylc. Depending how much work we put into back-compatibility, the set command might provide some limited functionality for working with older schedulers.
You can choose which version to play a workflow with using the form that opens when you click the pencil icon next to the play option in the command menu. There is also a toggle for upgrading to a newer version in the form.
